This cinema offers both children and adults a wide selection of large-format films on a giant 1000 sq. m hemispheric screen. Located in the heart of the "Parc de la Villette", the Géode is an exceptional cinema : the shining steel globe, 36m in diameter seems to hover over a sheet of water. The auditorium is equipped with 357 reclining seats set at an angle of 30°. The hemispherical aluminium 1 000 m2 screen is perforated for sound. The distortion caused by the curved screen is unusual but somehow effective for panoramic views. The multimedia system which consists of an Omnimax projector has a sound capacity of 21 000W reproduced by 12 quadraphonic amplifiers and 6 low-frequency modules.
