MUSEE NATIONAL PICASSO

The Picasso Museum is located in the Hôtel Salé, a mid-17th century private mansion in the heart of the Marais district. The museum proposes a visit in chronological order...

thereby showing how Picasso’s work evolved as he experimented with different styles, going from ink drawings to his blue and pink periods and finally sculpture. Pablo Picasso was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century; it is impossible to be unmoved by his work.
With his famous painting “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” (1907), the artist made a significant contribution to the birth of Cubism, a style of painting that fractured an image into several cubes or facets to give it an abstract geometric and often surreal aspect.
Don’t put off a visit to this extensive collection of Picasso’s work: the museum, which opened to the public in 1985, is scheduled to close in the first half of 2008 for the addition of an extension and is not expected to re-open until 2010.
