Description :
The third most visited site in France. Initiated by President Georges Pompidou, it was inaugurated in 1977 and is situated in the Beaubourg district. It owes its contemporary post-modern and inventive architecture to the architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers. It conserves one of the two most important collections of modern and contemporary art in the world with more than 60,000 works, paintings, sculpture, graphic art, photography, new media, cinema, design and architect. The centre is also devoted to artistic creation, where the visual arts rub shoulders with books, design, cinema and music notably at L’IRCAM. In addition to the permanent collections, there are also major temporary exhibitions, cinema and show rooms, the first public library in Europe, the BPI, as well as an area for young visitors.

Situated in the heart of Paris, in the Marais district the Centre Pompidou boasts unique, timeless and resolutely modern architecture. The upper levels offer all-round panoramic views of Paris and its monuments. The centre is one of the biggest museums of contemporary and modern art in Europe. More than 65,000 works by masters of modern art such as Picasso, Kandinsky, Matisse, Chagall Léger, Miro, Dali, Dubuffet, Klein… - and major contemporary artists - Buren, Boltanski, Opalka, Twombly, Hantaï, Tallon, Widmer, Garouste…
The Centre Pompidou stages some 25 temporary exhibitions each year. It also has a programme of cinema, theatre, dance, concerts, talks, areas for children, a public information library, restaurants, etc.

From 11 euros to 13 euros according to season. RR: 9 to 10 euros.
Guided tour :
4.50 euros (+ admission at 8 euros); reduced rate 3.50 euros.
Free :
First Sunday of each month.
Since 4 April 2009, free admission for under 26s belonging to the European Union and for primary and secondary school teachers (except temporary exhibitions).
Beneficiaries of this free entrance can collect a ticket at the Georges Pompidou centre cash desk. Direct access to exhibition areas on presentation of proof of: being a holder of the free pass and accompanying children under 18 yrs, children under 13 yrs, disabled people and an accompanying person, French and foreign journalists, 'Amis' of the Pompidou centre and 'Amis' of the Musée national d'art moderne, Ministry of culture staff, Icom and Icomos members.
Free for children :
Under 18s: free for museum and for temporary exhibitions with special ticket from cash desks.

Accessibility disabled persons
Accessible to people with reduced mobility: Access for disbaled people and for people with sight or hearing impairments at rue du Renard, corner rue Saint Merri.
Access the centre by the staff entrance. Wheelchairs supplied (in exchange of a piece of identity) from the cloakroom on level 0, and at the museum information desk, levels 4 and 5. All activities are accessible to physically disabled visitors and those with reduced mobility. Details in the brochures, available on demand from Information, level 0 and on www.centrepompidou.fr
