District : Saint-Germain-des-Prés / Musée d'Orsay / Montparnasse
Informations :
Although it was Louis Braille who invented the eponymous system of raised dots used throughout the world, it is thanks to the perseverance of exceptional characters that a made to measure pedagogy was put in place for persons with impaired vision. The musée Valentin Haüy, established in 1886 and named after the first teacher of the blind relates the stages in the struggle for access to culture for the sight impaired. A visual and tactile exhibition presents the methods and tools created for them from the 18th century to the present day.
