EGLISE SAINT EUSTACHE

Monument

District : Marais / Les Halles

Description :

The Eglise Saint-Eustache is one of the most visited churches in Paris. It is already considered one of the capital’s most beautiful religious monuments... thanks to the splendid works of art that it houses ("Martyre de saint Eustache" by Vouet and "statue de la Vierge" by Pigalle). Yet the church is also distinguished by its unusual dimensions (33 m high, 100 m long and 43 m wide) which bring it closer in line with those of a cathedral.

This monument, a symbol of the Les Halles district, has immense dimensions, allowing listeners to enjoy rare quality acoustic performances.

With its Titular Organist Jean Guillou, the Eglise Saint-Eustache organises concerts throughout the year featuring symphony orchestras, chamber music, etc. and of course, the famous Saint-Eustache Choir.

Informations :

Saint-Eustache is one of the most beautiful churches of Paris. Its architecture mixes different style: its construction lasted from 1532 to 1637 and still keeps a gothic silhouette. A classical façade was added in the XVIIIth century and the church had to be restored in 1840 after a fire.
Inside: a beautiful "Saint Eustache's Martyrdom" and a statue of the Virgin by the sculptor Pigalle.
Famous organ concerts are organized in the church.
