Description :
More of a botanical garden, and formerly the royal garden of medicinal plants created by Louis XIII in 1635, the Jardin des Plantes has been open to the public for some four hundred years. A unique place to discover – rich in exceptional heritage, the sciences, etc. It has something to offer all year round, with alpine flowers, roses, a labyrinth, hothouses and French-style flower beds. Special events take place every Wednesday.
It is a wonderful place to relax and also to learn more about botany and the natural sciences, etc. Special programme of events all year round.
Informations :
Stroll around the statues, the "trees with forty crowns" or Ginkgo bilobas, a Japanese pagoda tree planted in 1747 and around twenty more than 100 year old trees including a Lebanon cedar planted in 1734 by Bernard de Jussieu himself. Climb up to the panoramic viewpoint of the mound, where a Labyrinthe (maze) is built, to take in the view. Groups of school children visit to track down dinosaurs or learn about gardening. Explore the greenhouses, educational vegetable garden, alpine garden, rose garden, iris garden, rock garden and peonies.

Cabinet: open 1 April to 30 September, every day except Tuesdays and 1 May, 10am - 5pm; Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10am - 6pm.
