Description :

Louis XV commissioned the architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot to build this massive church, located in the area now known as the Latin Quarter... The construction of the Pantheon began in 1764 and was completed in 1790. Following the French Revolution, the Neo-Classical structure was turned into a mausoleum to honour the great men who had marked the history of France. 72 Frenchmen of note including Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Marie Curie, Jean Jaurès and Jean Moulin are entombed in the crypt. You can also see a model of Foucault’s Pendulum, an experiment devised to demonstrate the rotation of the earth.
