Park-garden-walk
District : Quartier Latin
Description :
One end of the Musée Carnavalet gives on to the Square Georges Cain on Rue Payenne. This little known square in the trendy Marais district is a 2,128-sq.m. leafy haven for those lucky enough to stumble upon it, and for Marais insiders who keep it a jealously guarded secret.
Two art works in the garden set it apart from other green spaces in Paris: “L'Aurore”, a 17th-century bronze statue of a naked woman standing in the middle of a rose bed and “Le Rossignol Electrique”, a work by Eric Samakh (1990) – a small electronic bird that sings In tune to the breeze.
It’s the ideal spot for a picnic or a game of cards on the lawns.
