Here you’ll find helpful advice for your arrival in and departure from France: customs, the Schengen zone and storage and assistance services for your luggage. In addition, to help you to prepare your trip, there are details of the French geographical divisions, showing the different regions and “départements”. Are you aware of the Maisons de la France based abroad? They promote tourism in France outside its borders and can help you to organise your visit.
Customs
Since France joined the EU, customs services are less apparent, in particular in Paris railway stations. However the law must still be complied with.
You may bring in 200 cigarettes (or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars), 2 litres of wine and 1 litre of spirits, 50g of perfume, ¼ litre of eau de toilette. Any quantities beyond the legal limits must be declared spontaneously.
