Classical music and opera

Our selection of classical music concerts, operas and works by contemporary composers to enjoy in legendary venues: the Opéra Bastille, the Palais Garnier and the Philharmonie de Paris.

Autumn is music season in Paris. Concert halls and opera houses feature a wide-ranging programme of new productions in September. Deciding what to attend is always a hard task. Classical music fans can choose this autumn from among performances by the most reputed orchestra (Staatskapelle Berlin, Orchestre Philharmonique de Saint-Petersbourg, London Philharmonie Orchestra, Wiener Philharmoniker) , the finest soloists (Martha Argerich, Sumi Jo, Lang Lang, Anne Sofie Otter, Hélène Grimaud...) or the legendary conductors (Esa-Pekka Salonen, Daniel Barenboïm, Yuri Temirkanov...).

The city boasts a good number of concert halls with flawless acoustics so you can revel in this great music: the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, the Théâtre du Châtelet, and the Philharmonie de Paris.

Opera in Paris

An integral part of the classical music calendar is the programme at the Opéra de Paris (Tosca de Giacomo Puccini, Eliogabalo de Francesco Cavalli, Samson et Dalila, de Camille Saint-Saëns, Lucia du Lammermoor de Gaetano Donizetti, Iphigénie en Tauride de CW Gluck, Les contes d'Hoffmann de Jacques Offenbach...), a bastion of French culture with two legendary venues, the Opéra Bastille and the Palais Garnier, and a top-flight opera repertoire. It is a highlight of the cultural scene in Paris and opera lovers can expect some very fine performances.
